Recovery is the beginning.

Talking about the hard parts of sobriety matters. The cravings, the mistakes, the days that don’t go the way you planned.

There’s another conversation I think we should be having too.

What kind of man do you want to become?

What kind of father, husband, friend or person do you want to be?

What do you want your life to look like eight years from now?

Sober 3000 is about making more room for that conversation. It isn’t a replacement for meetings, therapy, or any other support you use. It’s one more place to talk.

The first workshop / 12 men

Let’s talk about what comes next.

I’m looking for 12 men to help me test the first Sober 3000 workshop. You’d need at least three months of sobriety.

It’s four weeks, online. We’ll talk about where you are now, where you want to be in about eight years, and what you can do about it. 3,000 days is a little over eight years, so you’ll end up with your own 3,000-day vision.

This is the first time I’m running the Sober 3000 workshop. I’m keeping the group small because I want to learn what works, what doesn’t, and make the next one better.

The four weeks

  1. Week 1
Where you are. Talk about your recovery and the life you have right now.
  2. Week 2
Where you’re going. Picture your life eight years from now.
  3. Week 3
Who you’re becoming. Your values, your habits, the people in your life.
  4. Week 4
Starting today. What can you do today that moves you toward that life? Pick a few things and write them down.

Who it’s for

Men with at least three months of sobriety who are curious about what’s next and willing to listen and talk in a small group.

You don’t need a perfect recovery story or a plan for your life. Religious, not religious, or not sure: you’re welcome.

This isn’t treatment or therapy. It’s a small group of men talking.

What you get

Four online group sessions that I lead, some questions and exercises to work through, other men in recovery to talk with, and a 3,000-day vision of your own to keep coming back to.

Kary Youman, founder of Sober 3000

Hey, I’m Kary.

My name is Kary Youman. I got sober on December 26, 2011.

In my early sobriety there were places to talk about drinking, cravings, mistakes, and the hard parts. Those conversations mattered.

But I also wanted to sit down with other men and talk about where we were headed, and what we wanted our lives to look like. I wish there had been more of that.

Sober 3000 grew out of that.

I also have a background in facilitating conversations, learning, and personal development. So I took what I know from both and built a small group around it.

I’m not here to tell anyone how to live. I just think a good question, asked in a room of honest guys, can go a long way.

SOBER 3000

I’m writing a book about the idea that helped shape my own recovery.

It’s a mix of my own story, some research, and practical stuff you can use. It’s for men who want to think past the next milestone.

No release date yet. The waitlist is for workshop updates only. If you want book updates later, I’ll ask separately.

Beyond the book

3,000 Men. 3,000 Stories.

Every man has a story shaped by the choices he’s made, the challenges he’s faced, and the life he’s still building.

Through Sober 3000, my long-term mission is to help 3,000 men in recovery reflect on their experiences, find their voice, and tell their stories.

Some stories will be shared publicly. Others will be written, recorded, or passed down to someone they love.

Not every story needs an audience. Every story deserves the opportunity to be told.

Your past is part of your story. It doesn’t have to define the rest of it.
